Recently the following article was published in the age. How the media oversold standing desks as a fix for inactivity at work
I reflected in how many articles I have read in recent times about organisations who were introducing stand up work stations and quoting from original research as described in the media, the benefits of standing during the day. As explained in the article, all is not as it seems. It reinforces the need to be skeptical when considering new initiatives. Remember that there is a cost to any initiative – not just financial but also productivity, morale, customer service. Whilst standing during the day may have its benefits, do your research first to ensure that what is being proposed is based on solid evidence.
